Brock Creek
In December 2025, Vital Ground Foundation and conservation partners
Atira Conservation and the Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative, permanently protected 49 acres of grizzly bear linkage habitat with the land purchase of the Brock Creek property. The property is within an ecologically significant highway area near Garrison, Montana, just off I-90 and the Clark Fork River.
Biologists, bear managers and researchers have identified this area as a connectivity zone between the Northern Continental Divide, Greater Yellowstone and Bitterroot ecosystems and prioritized its conservation. Telemetry and verified sightings have documented grizzlies on and near the property.
Brock Creek runs just east of the property and contains brook trout, rainbow trout, westslope cutthroat trout and multiple beaver ponds. The creek creates riparian areas that attract a variety of wide-ranging wildlife including elk, deer, wolves, black bears and grizzlies. Habitats on the property include rolling hills/grasslands, conifer stands and wetlands.
- Total Transaction Cost: $377,088
- Atira Conservation Support: $20,000
